I shifted from Delhi to Chandigarh and am in possession of valid passport which
has been issued by Regional Passport office, Delhi and my Delhi address is
written in that passport. Should I get my address changed and what are the
documents required for rendering this service?
Ans.
It is better to have present address written in
your passport. Since you have
shifted from Delhi to Chandigarh a proof of Residence of Chandigarh address in
the form of Ration card or voter I card or Telephone bill or Electric Bill or
certificate from reputed organization/company is required for rendering this
service.

My Passport was issued from
Regional Passport office, Hyderabad. Presently I have been working in Chandigarh
for the last one year. Can I get ECNR from RPO, Chandigarh and what are the
documents required?
Ans.
you can get ECNR
from RPO, Chandigarh subject to following documents:
Proof of
stay in Chandigarh for the last one year such as ration card or voter
identity card or running bank account
or telephone bill or certificate from employer(of a
reputed private company)
Attested
Photocopy of degree certificate along with original.
Fill up the EAP-II form
(Miscellaneous service form) duly filled and submit your passport along with the
above documents. You will be granted ECNR.This service is rendered the same day.

I don’t have ECNR stamp in my
Passport. Can I get it on the basis of my provisional certificate issued by my
University?
Ans. you
can get ECNR on the basis of provisional degree certificate if you have the
marks' cards of all semesters of your course in addition to your provision
certificate. You should have passed your degree
recently.
4.
I am a salaried person and the tax
is deducted from salary. What are the documents I need to produce to get the
ECNR?
Ans. Form
16(a) for the last 3 years along with copies of acknowledgements of your
returns.
5.
In case of minor’s passport of
age 4,whose father is abroad, whether consent is to be obtained to apply for a
passport? If so, what is the procedure?
Ans. Single
parent can apply for passport of a minor provided an affidavit as per annexure
‘J’ in the prescribed Performa attested by executive magistrate is furnished
along with application form

I have one-month-old baby. Can I
get a separate passport for him?
Ans. Inclusion
of child’s name in parents’ passport is not allowed as per the standing
instructions of MEA. So, you have to apply for a separate passport for your
baby.
7.
I got my passport 2 years back. I
got married recently. Should I include my wife’s name in my passport? If so,
what is the procedure?
Ans. It
is better if you include your spouse name in your passport. You can avail
‘Inclusion of spouse name’ service. Submit EAP-II (miscellaneous form) duly
filled in and submit with marriage certificate, photocopy of wife’s passport
(if she has one) or joint affidavit as per Annexure ’J’
and proof of stay (if the present address is different from the one in
passport).

I am working in a software company at Mohali
for the last 2 years. I would like to apply for passport for my wife. I have
proof of residence certificate issued by Canara Bank. Is Marriage registration
certificate mandatory? Or Is it enough if my company issues a letter stating my
wife's Name?
Ans.
Marriage certificate is not mandatory to get a passport for your wife if she
is applying for a passport for the first time. She may apply for passport in EAP
-I form with requisite documents like proof of residence and date of birth.
Annexure ’J’ or marriage
certificates if there is a change in surname after marriage.
9.
I have downloaded application form from your website. Is it valid?
Ans. Yes,
downloaded form duly filled in is acceptable.
10.
Is ‘No Objection Certificate’
mandatory for state /central /semi-government?
Ans.
Yes, NOC issued by a
competent authority on prescribed Performa is must for govt./semi-govt.employees
for getting passport facility. However, if the applicant can submit proof of
having applied for NOC by furnishing a certificate to that effect from the
competent authority, his case can be accepted.
11.
I am working in Public Ltd. Company/Private Bank like Bank of Punjab,
ICICI etc…I have been asked to furnish ‘No Objection Certificate’.
Ans.
Only those persons working in companies, which are owned by the state/central
govt., need to furnish ‘No Objection Certificate’. Employees of private
banks need not to obtain ‘NOC’. However, all applicants are strongly advised
to submit a proof of their employment to the police authorities at the time of
verification.
